Descriptive roll and scrapbook of the 6th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry, 1861-1905.

Each entry in the roll book includes soldier's name, age, height, complexion, eye color, hair color, birthplace, occupation, enlistment date, place of enlistment, by whom enlisted, term of enlistment, and remarks. The scrapbook section contains a brief history of the regiment and newspaper clippings about the subsequent lives of particular members and about the war in general.

When Mexican and Civil War soldiers mustered out of service, many regiments turned their flags over to the state of Ohio. The General Assembly authorized the purchase of glass cases to display battle flags in the Statehouse.
